The bowling club is located in the Recreation Ground half a mile west of the Market Place on the A689. The postcode is DL13 3AP. There is a Pay & Display car park, but Wolsingham residents can purchase\/use the annual permit available from the Parish Clerk, and a limited number of temporary visitors\u2019 permits, are available from the bowling club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bowling green is owned by the Parish Council, and is managed by the bowling club, whose members look after both the green and the surrounding garden. The green was opened in 1989, thanks to the generosity of Joe Johnson who provided the funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bowling green is open to all members of the public, not just to club members, and during the season is open every day from 2.00pm to 4.00pm. Evening sessions, from 6.00pm to 8.00pm, are available on request, by contacting the Secretary on 01388 527827.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The club can provide non-members with sets of woods as part of the green fee, and those wishing to play are asked to bring a separate pair of flat soled shoes to wear on the green. (There are some bowling shoes available in the clubhouse)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bowling club takes part in three bowling leagues. On Monday evenings, a team of twelve play in the South West Durham League; on Saturday the club plays in the Durham & District League in the same format. On Wednesday afternoons, the club plays in the SW Durham Veteran\u2019s League, where three rinks of three are required. A Veteran is defined as any member over the age of 55.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Club organises a full range of club competitions, which run throughout the season, with two late season competitions, as well as two friendly matches against local clubs. All members of the club are eligible for selection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bowling season begins on the third Saturday in April and runs until the second weekend in September.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
